The following instructions are a guide to the “what, where, how, when and who” of this site. Naturally, gaining the appropriate information from any site can be difficult; hence, the aim is to provide you, the user, with appropriate and easy to follow tips on how to get the best out of this site.

The GPS site is divided into a few different subsections. Below we have briefly described each area to assist you with the use of the site.

1. Home Page – a brief introduction / explanation of the site. At this point, the user makes a selection between legal and accounting services upon which to search. Additionally, there is a button for instructions on how to use the site at the bottom of this page.

2. How to Use the Site – that’s here! – The how, what, where, etc of the site. A basic explanation on how to use the site. Located at the bottom of the home page.

3. Search section – the search facility or “Guide”, as I like to refer to it, is the major function of the Guide to Professional Services (GPS) site, providing the ability to locate the MOST APPROPRIATE services to meet YOUR needs.

Once you have selected either the accounting or legal services search button, you will be presented with an inquiry section. By completing any of the fields in this section and then clicking “search”, the user will be provided with a choice of service providers based on that selection.

From there the user then selects any of the initial results, producing a detailed explanation consisting of:

The Contact details:
Name, address.

Communications:
Phone and fax numbers, e-mail and website addresses (where applicable).

Contact person:
People able to answer enquires.

Special attributes:
Such as languages, additional offices, national or affiliated branches and international group membership as well as locations where the service is provided and accreditations. Should you wish to search for a service provider in a specific suburb where, or near where you require the service, complete the field “location where service required”. When you select an area or location, each record will be checked for that selection based on a firm’s actual location, their local service area such as north coast, eastern suburbs etc, and their general service area such as Sydney, Melbourne etc. So when making your location selection, try a few alternatives to determine which provides you with the best result.

Comments on the practice:
A free form area where the practice may list speciality areas, future services or anything else the firm would really like you to know.

Services:
This is a listing of the services that each practice provides. Within each firm, coloured bar charts indicate the volume of work that the firm performs in each service area. Each service is designated a service family or grouping with each of the services within the family appearing with the same colour in the bar chart.

4. Glossary
This section provides assistance with technical terminology. Should you be unsure exactly what type of service you require, you can check what these terms mean in the glossary and then perform a search using that appropriate term. Such a search can be performed by selecting the glossary button to the left of the search page.

5. Registration Forms
By selecting this button found in the red strip to the left of the initial search page, any professional can “start the ball rolling”. By printing off the appropriate forms, completing this application and returning it to Rob Knights Service P/L, that practice will be on its way to joining the numerous other professionals already listed in this site.
